With a rich history dating back to 1870, Windermere House was looking to expand its offering with the development of six cottages overlooking Lake Rousseau. A fractional ownership alternative, the new cottages were intended to serve as a lifestyle option for visitors looking to enjoy the Muskoka ambience without the headaches of maintaining a property. Providing greater affordability these cottages also allowed ownership to a broader range of individuals.
In developing this project, the units were to blend in with the natural surroundings while being visually compatible with the Windermere Hotel. ATA combined modern standards of construction with materials typically found in traditional cottages. We also consolidated resources and services from the existing historic site and ensured all amenities were included. Two freestanding cottages were bookended by two doubles. The cottages were located along a hillside to create individuality and provide stunning lakeside views.
The response from the market to the new cottages was so strong (including exceptional sales of fractional ownership) that preparation has begun for Phase 2 – the construction of six more units.
