Located at the corner of Steeles Avenue and Hurontario Street, this new commercial building sits on a site that was once occupied by a Shell gas bar. The intent of the design was to visually connect the existing commercial plaza to the intersection with a strong new anchor point that is visible as one approaches the intersection from any direction. This first phase of a longer-term plaza rejuvenation will set the design language moving forward. The design uses a two storey scale and a contemporary design to establish itself as a new landmark that invigorates and extends the life and vitality of the intersection. A three metre landscape setback was maintained and increased in depth with hard and soft landscaping. Concrete planters were used to create an outdoor patio that is visible yet separated from the intersection.
